Played in a small (41 players) £15 + £4 tourney in G Casino Thanet yesterday afternoon. I only had 4 good hands in 3 hours of play - JJ (twice), QQ and AA.

The first JJ I reraised and got 3 callers. J on the flop, I raised again, 3 callers. Turn paired the board giving me an FH, raised again, 1 caller. Raised river, got called by a smaller FH. Big pot and glad I took them off the woman I did - horrible woman who spent the whole time she was there whinging about the speed of play, how poor other players were (who of course were sucking out on her!) etc. Glad to see her go not long after.

Next was the second JJ. Raised pre, couple of callers. J on flop, bet out, 1 caller. 8 flop, bet, called. 9 river, bet, villain went all in for an extra 3k, not much in terms of the pot so I eventually decided to call. He had 10 9 and had called with nothing on the flop even though I should have had an extremely tight image.

Down to push/fold got QQ on the button. There was a raise and a call then I went all in. Raiser called, caller folded. Villain (same one as the second JJ hand) had AQ and I doubled up.

2 hours in and we were down to 18 left, 6 paid, blinds 1500/3000/a300 - I had about 30k and was about 14th or so. Dealt AA - yes! UTG called, I raised to 7k, all folded to UTG who raised to 20k. I went all in, he called with 10 10. He groaned, I cheered inwardly, then died a little as the 10 was the first card out

Would have been comfortably in the top 6 had I doubled up there. Over 80% favourite - DOH!

Was reminded of this post a couple of times in recent weeks. Have been playing in a few local pub games and have had AA twice in that time. First time was on the 3rd hand of a £10 tourney when I raised pre-flop, got 2 callers, got it all in by the river to be taken out by 98s who'd hit a straight on the turn. I hadn't even posted the blinds by then!

Second hand was in a £5 buyin cash game. PFR UTG, two callers, a raise, 2 callers, I moved all in, everyone called. A flop of 10 8 9 didn't look good to me, and the Q on the turn had me reaching for my next fiver. Correctly, as it turned that the guy two to my left had JJ. I would have beaten all the other hands
