Managed to squeak out a small profit from last nights session. I have an advantage that I am in a slow part of my shooting season so I can start playing a bit more early than I am used to..

Sooo....Once I got back above the waterline and booked the profit, I figured why not see what the world of SnG's can bring...I've been doing ok...

Finished third in an $11 18 player for $40. Should have been heads up but AQ<A2 every single time (2 on turn).

For the masses who have been begging me to post an update, I offer my apologies, I did not mean to leave you hanging...here is the update. Drink it slowly like a supereb Cabernet....

Limit poker sucks.

Guess I should go into a bit more detail...

MICRO-Limit poker sucks. This is what I meant to convey. I have never found anything more infuriating than what my quest brought me. This was over such a small scope of hands, maybe 2k-2200? Risking the Llan "I TOLD YOU SO" that I know is coming, I have decided to save my sanity and return to my safe little cubby hole of Sng's and Cash games on the side.

To solely dedicate myself to Limit at the .5/.10 level is rediculous. No raise is taken seriously and the cards hit the fish way too many times to play this level and remain sane. What this says about my dedication is up for debate. I don't have the roll yet to move up to higher levels, so I will happily grind away until I can make the next step up the ladder.

Thank you to all..and to all a goodnight.

I concur, micro-limit sucks. Given the standard of play, it can feel like it might as well be play money and does not help your sanity.

Don't expect it to get better. Limit didn't get all that much better up to the 3/6 and 5/10 I played in the olden days, perhaps equivalent to .5/1 now? Dunno.

I can't imagine what LHE is like without the buffer of the 1BB/100+ one used to get in bonus in the good old days. In fact I can imagine, as I played for a goodly while after the availability of bonuses dropped off substantially.

You'll need something more than mere "dedication".

To make matters worse, wasn't Kinni playing 0.05/0.1??

Well that's precisely my point... Kinni can raise his current limits by an order of magnitude and not expect a massive "improvement". (Actually the ridiculousness of play is obviously a good thing, but you perhaps need 10000000000000000 hands or more to smooth out the variance - and you obviously need not to jump off a cliff before you've done that).

I think what really got to me is that I started this to see what kind of boost to my roll I could get by just focusing on one aspect of the game. My $$'s are plentiful to cover me playing at the limit so there was no real way to have a significant impact. That and the fact that I was no longer having fun playing made it all the worse. I'd sit down to play almost begrudgingly. Thats not why I play poker. I play to have fun, boost my ego making myself think I am better than I actually am, find an interesting couple of hands to post to get feedback from and learn from comments.

When I lost the fun aspect, and it was not my main source of income, it was time to say "Game Over", No soup for you, and Have a nice day.

lol Kinni, I think that you and I have a lot in common. That being said, I think that you will have the most fun playing SNGs and/or MTTs. We need some more activity in those forums anyway :D .
