Boy, I showed him!

Postby Bullajami » Jan 17 2012

The poker club here at Camp Lemonnier is the highlight of my social life in Africa. It's mostly newbie players, a few who have read one poker book and have some knowledge, and a few who have watched lots of poker on ESPN and know everything about poker. :D

It's a friendly game, a good excuse to drink beer and smoke cigars. When it seems appropriate in conversation I offer a tip or two to some of the members who seem like they'd be receptive. I avoid being the table coach, or being preachy - except for one thing - bluffing into a dry sidepot. No matter how many times I explain that this only protects the hand of the all-in player, people still do it. One guy in particular seems to only bluff when there's an empty sidepot to bluff into.

Tonight was my opportunity to teach him a lesson. A very short stack was AIPF when I was the BB. I looked down at :8d :8c . Mr. Bluffer called from the SB, and I called.

Flop came :8s :9c :6d
:D

Mr. Bluffer bets 10 into the dry sidepot. I decided to teach this goon a lesson once and for all and raised all-in to 134. He had 138, called and turned over :7d :10h

Peace,
Bull

Runner runner T7 and you split the pot. That showed him. No???

Actually I witnessed something similar at the WSOP $1K. Not a side pot though. After the wise guy 3bet all in on the flop the fish went into the tank--finally calling with the nuts. The young jerk went ballistic, floor was called. :D  The floor berated the jerk--I mean the fish could have lost the pot. And that's precisely what the floor said. The floor also said that the fish paid $1000 to enter the tournament and he could play the hand any way he pleased.

The gods smiled and the fish's hand held. There's more to the story but let's just say that the Jerk didn't say, "Nice hand." The jerk is no Bull that's for sure.
