53o vs Hilger

Postby the_hawk » Feb 25 2010

This is in the snake-pit that was the ITH tourney. Reads: King Cobra is in the SB here. The button is solid and the BB is some random donk who lives in Liverpool and does fine (so long as his ATC connect with the board). UTG is irrelevant to this hand - and was fairly irrelevant generally

How did I do?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, 5.5 Tournament, 10/20 Blinds (5 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

UTG (t1520)
Hero (MP) (t1520)
Button (t1568 )
SB (t1312)
BB (t1580)

Hero's M: 50.67

Preflop: Hero is MP with :3c, :5d
1 fold, Hero bets t60, 1 fold, SB calls t50, 1 fold

Preflop raise is automatic, obviously - but I wonder if it's just a bit too ABC for this situation and I might have considered a limp/3-bet. No way was this pot going unraised. I was staggered that BB didn't call, as he usually plays any 2, but wasn't too unhappy to get it HU.

Flop: (t140) :4c, :6h, :kc (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets t140, SB calls t140

Considering that I may already be ahead (he could have 32o or 52o) and that I have a monster draw, potting seems the straightforward option. Too straightforward again? Anyone for a c/r? (EDIT: oops, I'm in position, can't c/r... :()

Turn: (t420) :2s (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets t400, 1 fold

Now I have the nuts. My read on villain is that check-call, check indicates a monster and I pot-lead fully expecting a CRAI. Optimistic? And is potting it again too ABC again?

With these stack sizes, why bet so much on turn? - unless you are bluffing and think you can get me to fold. If I have a monster I'll be check-raising you either case and would then be committed. I think you should assume I have a weakish hand and play your hand from that perspective - now whether that means betting 1/2 to full pot if I have a weakish hand is debatable. But I think I half-pot would be better there.

I'm not positive, but I think I had TT.
