Suggestions for FAQ questions

Postby Bugsbunny » Apr 18 2007

I'm looking for suggestions for FAQ questions. I have some ideas but want to hear from the membership.

That's a research paper, not an FAQ :) If anyone wants to write it up though I'll be happy to include it.

Not a FAQ, as such, but you could have a table showing some common (or even not so common) odds and probabilities.

You know the sort of thing :
Chances of hitting a set if you have a pocket pair
Chances of flopping a flush if you hold 2 flush cards (and chances of completing a flush if the flop brings 2 flush cards)
Chances of flopping an A or K when you hold AK.
Chances of flopping an A or K when you hold QQ (always seems higher than it should be! )

You could also have an outs to odds table (eg OESD has 8 outs, ignoring discounting, so need pot odds of circa 5:1, flush draw has 9 outs so need pot odds of circa 4:1)

Just a thought.

Hi Bugs ... clear explanations of

Outs
Pot Odds
Pot Equity
Expected Value
Variance and Standard Deviation
Implied Odds (Douts)

How to calculate them.
When or if they come into play at the table

Couple of examples on each would be nice along with a couple of examples (or links to examples) on how to work out EV when you're making guesses at opponent's bluffing propensities and probable hands :)

The difference between odds stated as X to 1 and a percentage, and how to convert between the two.
