Odds using two or more alternating decks

Postby Cbiffs » Sep 02 2010

How do the odds work when using two or more alternating decks? Would you be twice as likely to land a pocket pair if your using two decks? Or hit flushes twice as often when using two decks?

Assuming you are talking about the standard poker practice of using the red deck for a hand and then the blue deck for the next hand and so on, it has absolutely no effect on the odds whatsoever. If you have invented a new game played with two decks shuffled together, it would have some subtle changes, but very small ones.

In texas holdem there is no change. However if you play casino games such as blackjack then there defiantly is a change in odds when there are more decks in the shoe.
