Combining ROI% in OPR

Postby toronexti » Oct 26 2008

OK, so lets say I want to combine a guys OPR ROI% how would I do this?

Let's just use my stats for example:

http://www.officialpokerrankings.com/po ... 4.html?t=2

http://www.officialpokerrankings.com/fu ... 4.html?t=2

So what would my overall ROI% be, and how do I the math?

ROI is simple to calculate:

[Total Profit] / [Total Cost of entries] = ROI

So just add u[p all your profits to get the numerator, add up all your entry fees to get the denominator.

That's not what I'm having trouble with.

Here are player A's stats across two sites according to OPR:

Stats on Stars:
Total Winnings (Prizes): 50,000
Total Profit (Won - Buyin according to OPR): 25,000
ROI%: 50%

Stats on FTP:
Total Winnings: 50,000
Total Profit: <0 - this is all OPR shows
ROI: -10% (negative)

Can you give me a formula or explain how I combine these stats into a single ROI?

Toro, wouldn't taking this players (ABI * tourneys played) * ROI give you the "Total Profit" number that you are looking for to plug into the formula that Bugs provided and you already knew?

Well OK let's assume that Player A is playing $50 ABI MTTs and has played 1000 mtts.

So we're saying that he lost $5k?

Does that make sense?

That looks right to me toro. -10% ROI means he has lost 10% of his total buy-ins.

My problem with it is that ABI isn't as accurate as taking Prizes - Profit. So I guess I was hoping there was a more accurate way of doing it.

ABI gets messed up a bit if you play a lot of rebuys because it estimates your rebuys as the average of the field. If your worth your salt in rebuys you'll take less than the field more often than not. But it shiould still give you a reasonable estimate.
