Re: Hawk $11 Rushament Stake: Progress ThreadBusted #1 in 97th, villain cold-called with J9s against my AK and flopped flush draw, which got there on turn.

Re: Hawk $11 Rushament Stake: Progress Thread#2: Out 41st when my KK runs into the mighty T8o on 679.

Re: Hawk $11 Rushament Stake: Progress Thread17 outs not enough as AJs < 76o for a 119th place finish in #3.

Re: Hawk $11 Rushament Stake: Progress Thread#4: more promising, had a decent stack most of the way through, got done by a 4-flusher in a key hand with about 50 left, was short-ish approaching the bubble where 88 < AA. Finished 20th.

Re: Hawk $11 Rushament Stake: Progress Thread#5: didn't get in a blow. Probably had half a dozen playable hands, all of which missed the flop big style (AK on rags, JJ on AKx, that kinda jazz). Had already dwindled down a fair bit on missed flops when my AKs made the nut flush on the river, however villain had flopped a boat. Bollocks. 107th place.
Hardly got in a blow yet, but them's the breaks in rushaments I guess. "I shall never retire!" - Llanlad
Re: Hawk $11 Rushament Stake: Progress Thread#6: I really can't hit a barn door here. Very typical hand early on - a couple of limpers, I make it 6x to go with AK, one caller from the blinds, I am in position. Checks to me on 9Q9 and snap-shoves over the top of my c-bet.
Then, already getting short, 99 sees a flop of 883. I'm obviously in trouble 4-handed (3 fecking cold-callers again) but in even more trouble than I realise, as it turns out villain has 88. I try to keep the faith but this playing with other people's money lark is a bit troubling. "I shall never retire!" - Llanlad
Re: Hawk $11 Rushament Stake: Progress Thread#7: Well at least that's fairly standard, AK gets up against TT for rather a lot of chips early on and YET AGAIN MISSES THE FECKING BOARD. I quadrupled my tiny stack but it wasn't enough. Out 112th, and three tourneys gone in half an hour without breaking 100th place in any of them and, I believe, never being above starting stack in any of them.

Re: Hawk $11 Rushament Stake: Progress Thread#8: Well at least I got above starting stack (and broke 100th), but still about 2,400 chips is my maximum chip count tonight. JJ < AA this time. 68th place.

Re: Hawk $11 Rushament Stake: Progress Thread#9: this is how I am running, very first hand:
http://www.pokerhand.org/?5828823 So once again I start with little over half a stack. Which doesn't go far when yet again you run underpair into overpair (88 < QQ, both beaten by the mighty A5o). And also a bit of administration to report. I now realise I have screwed-up on the stakes. The tourneys are $11+1 not $10+1 as I first thought. This means that I will play 46 tourneys rather than 50, for a total seed of $552, and I will eat the $2 Which makes it all the more important that this horrid run ends soon. Re: Hawk $11 Rushament Stake: Progress ThreadJust hang in there. We know you can beat the crap out of variance
I came here to chew bubblegum and kick ass! And I'm all out of bubblegum...
Re: Hawk $11 Rushament Stake: Progress Threadspeaking from experience in these, hold your head high. It is quite amazing how frustrating they can be, but the eventual payoffs are worth it. Keep The Faith!
Re: Hawk $11 Rushament Stake: Progress Thread
This has nothing to do with variance ... its Grim at work imo ... Grim dont give a frig about variance .... Once he sits on your face and finds it comfortable ... hes never moving .. Sure he might lift his hairy backside once in a while to let you breath ... but thats only to fart in your face. Green = happy and playing , Yellow = disgruntled and slighty miffed but still playing, Orange = Narked big style, fed up and contemplating future, Red = dont talk to me, screw everything and this game can get lost, im Retired !. God knows what Black means
Re: Hawk $11 Rushament Stake: Progress Thread#11
Nothing changes. To kick off, a steady stream of crap hands, cold-callers, missed flops and my c-bets getting raised causes me to drift down from starting stack. This has been a feature of EVERY tourney in this series except one. ONE start made in 11 tourneys, the rest just chips dribbling away. Then I face a button steal holding AQo in the BB at a little over 20BB. I push, villain snaps with 99 and obviously flops a set. 88th place.
