Make the picks public or not?

Postby Bullajami » May 30 2007

Since there is a competition to see who can get the highest point total, should the member selections be posted and made public, or should I keep a private total and announce a winner at the end?

I plan to participate, so my picks will be posted no matter what.
Peace,
Bull

I'm undecided on this one... but even if the picks aren't posted could we have a running leaderbaord to show who has how many points?

I think publishing picks would be an interesting angle but I think prefer to not have the picks posted. It makes it more interesting and strategic trying to pick winning picks that others might not. With perfect information this aspect is diminshed a bit (I think).

I think that secret picks are probably more interesting, but I'm cool either way.

Do you want this to be more like a cash game or more like a tournament?

If a cash game (where you are making moves based on what you think is the absolutely best right now), then don't post the picks.

If a tournament (where you are making moves based on what other people are picking, not necessarily what you think is best), then post the picks.

A leader board is an option.

If the race is close it would certainly promote competition for the first prize, which is significantly better than milestone prizes for specific thresholds of points.

I think a leaderboard would be fun as well as potentially beneficial for the charity.
