Raise preflop to 5X. Either bet pot or raise a bet by your opponent on the flop.

Whether or not it makes a difference is irrelevent. If you play properly your success rate with big hands will be maximized. For the record though, most players won't stand that much heat with 9 10 off so unless he misplays his hand and gets lucky you'd take it down.

No offense, but I think you played this hand fairly poorly.

Against opponents who I have experience with, I will sometimes check here, just to be deceptive.

You trapped with it and hit it pretty well-TPTK with a backdoor flush draw. You check and get action-great, but you have strait and flush draws to worry about. Playing the hand the way you did, you gotta C/R this one. UTG fired and button smooth called-if one of them has a draw, you gotta put them to the test now.

The action on the turn has to raise red flags in your head. A scare card comes up on the turn and you see bet/raise in front of you-too many hands to worry about at this point. When button raises, it has to tell you that you may very well be beat. This early you gotta get away at this point. He either has a set, strait, or poorly played two pair/flush draw at this point. He's begging for a call from UTG and you shove on him-way too early to take a stand in this one.
I can't dodge bullets.

Agree with others too passive, you need to be raising with AK, be the aggressor.
