need helpI have read that it is good practice to play the very low limit SNG for experience. I am not convinced of this. It seems to me that people play any two cards at these levels with no concern for losing, because there is so little money involved. Am I right? If so what level should I be playing at to get good experience? I have been playing for a long time and would not consider myself a beginner, evern won a few tournaments. But certainly not an expert. Somewhere in between. Just want to get better. Like to play in tournaments with $100 or less buy in. Any help, please.
Re: need help
Bob, I'm not necessarily sure that you can pinpoint a particular limit where they aren't playing nearly any two. I've played SNGs from the $5 level all the way up to $1k. One thing I can offer though, is a bit of advice about understanding these games through and through. SNGs are pretty cut and dry, it's one of the reasons that they are hard to beat or destroy in the long run. There's just too many folks out there with the knowledge of ICM(independent chip model) for you to find soft games in the long run. If you just want to play them for fun, great, but long-term, you've got to have ICM knowledge and be willing to implement it if you hope to beat them. If you've not yet read it, pick up Collin Moshman's book Sit N Go Strategy. You can also get a trial version of a program called SNG Wizard which will help you out with SNG review and understanding ICM. I realize it's not the exact answer you're looking for here, but hopefully some of it helps. If it's stuff you already know, hopefully someone can benefit from it.
