VB 2nd pair on a straight-heavy board?

Postby ResumeMan » Dec 02 2010

OK last one for the evening.

Villain in this hand was pretty much a TAG (24/17/1.8). Can't remember anything specific about his play, as I don't think we were up against each other much.

Pre Flop: (1.5 SB) Hero is BB with AImage 9Image
3 folds, SB raises, Hero 3-bets, SB caps!, Hero calls

Capping OOP seemed pretty strong. If I had whiffed the flop I'm sure I would have given up to a CB.

Flop: (8 SB) 9Image 8Image 7Image (2 players)
SB bets, Hero raises, SB calls

But I didn't whiff, and I think there's a decent chance he has a couple unpaired cards, and I have a very vulnerable TPTK on a very drawy board.

Turn: (6 BB) KImage (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, SB calls

Trying to push what I perceive as an edge with villain showing weakness. Should I assume I'm dead if I'm c/r'd here?

River: (8 BB) 6Image (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks

He checks again, but there are an awful lot of hands that beat me here. Is a bet here spewy? Or is a check leaving money on the table?

This is ugly. I'd hate to be c/rd on the turn there. I'm not sure you can always assume you're dead if you are, but the pot is small enough for me to bet/fold, I think. When he calls and checks the river 6, there looks to be a value bet there. I think he'd lead with a T most of the time.
