Ugly River Value Decision [$11 SNG]

Postby avi » Dec 19 2009

This hand is made easier by the fact that we are HU, but still, its not that easy imo. What is the best COA on this river and why? Assume competent villain, who knows a thing or two about betting.
My main concern is obviously autovbetting myself.

I feel like a huge wimp, but I think I check behind here.

+1 - But I probably would have put him all-in on the turn.

Tnx for the replies guys. In the chosen hand, I chose to shove the river.

The main reason I did that, was that if villain had a 2, there was the possibility he could fold (he could also go f*** and call anyways) for fear of the K.

Villain in the hand folded though.

You've got to put him all in on the turn. At least two reasons:

1) You don't want to let him get a free draw to beat you when he holds a high diamond.
2) You don't want a scare card to come, like it did, to freeze the action.

I definitely wouldn't bet here since he is so unlikely to call you with a hand you can beat.

What if he already has you beat on the turn? Well you're never folding and he'll move in on the river, likely, so you don't have to worry about that.

But put him in on the turn and it makes things so much easier.
