Starting hands fixed 6max

Postby Bigmac25 » Jan 24 2010

I know things change depending on the table but just as a general idea I would like a few questions answered.

KJo utg. Is this hand to good to fold 6 handed? It seems like when I raise with this I run into a better hand most of the time.

Pocket pairs from EP under 10 10. Raise or fold with these?

Would also like some help with what hands to call with in the BB

Is there a starting hand chart somewhere for a 6 handed table similiar to the one Matthew made for a 10 handed table?

It all depends on table conditions...you might want to pick up stox's book which will give you a great starting point.

In the short handed FAQ (at the top of this forum) there are links to many articles discussing this. There is not a generallly accepted chart that I know of but a long time ago when I started out I made my own from some of the assembled articles in that post. Well worth doing some reading in there.

Barry Tannenbaum's book on Shorthanded limit holdem will teach you everything you know about starting hand rankings form limit holdem. And yes, the stox book is excellent for very tight aggressive tables.

If you're playing low limit, stick with Tannenbaum's book.
