Even though you will see KK often enough here, I think your line is correct. If he has JJ you will lose two more bets and if he has KK you will only win one more. Plus your hand is pretty much face up.

I would probably have just bet/called the flop -- your line is a bit cute.

Yeah you have to either C/R the flop or bet-3bet. You have the CO still in the hand and you want to trap him for an extra bet. On the river bet/call is fine.

If I check-call the flop I go for a bet-3bet on the turn. I'll play it both ways. River is fine. He either has a set, QQ/KK, or possibly something like [A/K/Q]J He's eother way overplaying his hand or has you beat. If you know that he tends to way overplay his hands you could consider 3 betting, otherwise the river as played is fine.
