I do not have adequate amounts of data to post rake comparisons for any limit below $0.50/$1.00 at this time. I am setting a minimum data requirement of 1,000 hands to post data for any one site and at least two sites are required to post for a particular limit.
$0.50/$1.00 Full Ring rake comparison
- Code: Select all
PokerStars $2.44 per 100 hands, 2.89% of the pot, 4k hands
Paradise $2.44 per 100 hands, 3.16% of the pot, 5k hands
Ultimate Bet $2.75 per 100 hands, 3.71% of the pot, 2k hands
PokerRoom(new) $3.62 per 100 hands, 4.27% of the pot, 4k hands
Absolute $3.65 per 100 hands, 4.08% of the pot, 3k hands
Party $3.77 per 100 hands, 4.51% of the pot, 164k hands
Party is really killing folks at this limit, with Absolute and PokerRoom not far behind. Stars and Paradise are a full bb/100 cheaper than all three of them, with UB not far behind. Notice that calculating by percentage of pot or rake per 100 doesn't make much difference, although it could move PokerRoom and Absolute around.

PokerStars $3.96 per 100 hands, 3.30% of the pot, 14k hands
Crypto $4.30 per 100 hands, 3.22% of the pot, 19k hands
Absolute $4.39 per 100 hands, 3.30% of the pot, 9k hands
Prima $4.41 per 100 hands, 2.95% of the pot, 5k hands
Full Tilt $4.79 per 100 hands, 3.20% of the pot, 1k hands
Paradise $5.25 per 100 hands, 3.46% of the pot, 1k hands
PokerRoom(new) $5.59 per 100 hands, 3.75% of the pot, 3k hands
Party $5.84 per 100 hands, 3.89% of the pot, 246k hands
Pacific $8.98 per 100 hands, 4.39% of the pot, 2k hands
The numbers for Pacific are amazingly terrible. It appears be caused by the fact that they rake an additional $0.25 on pots over $22, plus they rake $3 and $4 pots which are unraked at Party. Prima may also be the first site where rake as a percentage of pot size makes them more attractive. The low sample size makes me unsure. Party is still about 1 bb/100 worse than Stars. Pacific is 2.5 bb/100 worse than Stars, which is astounding. I guess it is a good thing that players there are so bad, because this is a blatent rip-off.
$1/$2 Short Handed rake comparison
- Code: Select all
PokerStars $7.12 per 100 hands, 3.31% of the pot, 3k hands
Crypto $7.65 per 100 hands, 3.47% of the pot, 2k hands
Party $9.21 per 100 hands, 3.93% of the pot, 19k hands
Note how much more rake is paid by short-handed players at the same levels. Party has more than 1 bb/100 rake penalty, the average pot is only about $1 higher at Party (12 instead of 11)
$2/$4 Full Ring rake comparison
- Code: Select all
PokerStars $7.68 per 100 hands, 2.40% of the pot, 10k hands
Paradise $8.26 per 100 hands, 2.81% of the pot, 3k hands
Ultimate Bet $9.41 per 100 hands, 3.65% of the pot, 3k hands
PokerRoom(new) $10.31 per 100 hands, 3.74% of the pot, 6k hands
Absolute $10.41 per 100 hands, 3.77% of the pot, 2k hands
Party $11.27 per 100 hands, 3.18% of the pot, 124k hands
Pacific $16.27 per 100 hands, 4.12% of the pot, 2k hands
I'm starting to get a very bad feeling about Pacific. Stars continues to rock.
$2/$4 Short Handed rake comparison
- Code: Select all
PokerStars $10.21 per 100 hands, 2.62% of the pot, 1k hands
Prima $10.90 per 100 hands, 2.51% of the pot, 1k hands
PokerRoom(new) $18.28 per 100 hands, 3.63% of the pot, 1k hands
Barely enough data to post.
$3/$6 Full Ring rake comparison
- Code: Select all
PokerStars $9.92 per 100 hands, 2.57% of the pot, 6k hands
Ultimate Bet $11.23 per 100 hands, 3.04% of the pot, 10k hands
Party $13.87 per 100 hands, 3.06% of the pot, 46k hands
Absolute $14.85 per 100 hands, 3.79% of the pot, 9k hands
PokerRoom(new) $16.58 per 100 hands, 3.84% of the pot, 4k hands
Not enough data to post Pacific, but they looklikely to be worse again by the early returns. Note that PokerRoom is particularly bad at this limit. Stars is the best again! PokerRoom gives up 1 bb/100 to Stars.
$5/$10 Full Ring rake comparison
- Code: Select all
Absolute $19.24 per 100 hands, 2.99% of the pot, 2k hands
Party $19.87 per 100 hands, 2.71% of the pot, 26k hands
PokerRoom(new) $21.40 per 100 hands, 2.88% of the pot, 16k hands
PokerStars $22.59 per 100 hands, 2.50% of the pot, 8k hands
Crypto $22.66 per 100 hands, 3.18% of the pot, 1k hands
Paradise $22.86 per 100 hands, 2.84% of the pot, 1k hands
Pacific $24.97 per 100 hands, 2.92% of the pot, 1k hands
Many of these sites are low data, but it appears to be a sweet spot rake-wise for Party and the first spot where Stars didn't dominate. The percentages and total numbers also don't line up. I'm betting this will clear up once we get more data
$10/$20 Full Ring rake comparison

PokerRoom(new) $20.45 per 100 hands, 1.41% of the pot, 1k hands
Party $25.28 per 100 hands, 1.73% of the pot, 20k hands
Not much data. Notice that the percentage of the pot paid in rake starts to be quite low at this point.
$15/$30 Full Ring rake comparison

Party $25.77 per 100 hands, 1.06% of the pot, 25k hands

Again, not much data.
