I'd like to echo this sentiment.

And this one:

Please try to stay on topic folks - this is a topic worthy of discussion, and I'd hate to think that someone coming to this forum would find it but be put off by all the noise generated. It distracts from the real conversation, and serves no good purpose that I am aware of.

And now I return you to your scheduled programming...

Where is this at?

No new developments since Pokerroom decided to pay everyone 100 bucks and a tournament ticket?

Tanya it is appreciated what you said. I feel were both wishing for the same

things to take place on ITH. Sometimes people look at things in different ways.

Even though I dont agree with Fats opinion I respect it and hope he may add

something to this thread.

All I can add to this thread is not to give up. I was owed 10k by absolute

and plugged away and finally it was settled.

So back to the discussion in hand, has anyone heard if this has been resolved?

This is what I have posted on RGP today.

Please, do not let this die. I know that I don't personally have any involvement in the scandal, however I am an online poker player and to allow a travesty such as the one that has occurred, to occur without ANY repercussions is incomprehensible to me.

Therefore, I ask that any fellow online player that is willing to voice their
concern and dismay as well can contact the gaming commision for PokerRoom.com and let them know how we, as online players, feel about this.

PokerRoom.com is regulated under the Kahnawake Gaming Commission
http://www.kahnawake.com/gamingcommission/ and they have a very simple form that can be filled out with complaints here:

http://www.kahnawake.com/gamingcommission/

Let's all join together and voice our concern about this scandal, even if we
weren't personally affected/involved in this one incident.

Together, perhaps we can make a difference?

P.S. I filled out the complaint form and sent one in myself, took less than 1 minute.

I have filed a Kahnawake complaint.

Can you post a summary of what happened?

And every so often an update of the current status?

As I hear anything, I will absolutely post and keep my fellow ITH'rs aware of the situation.

This thing just doesn't sit well with me, and it won't until they make good.

Bottom line is, they are claiming it was a mistake that the event was never a 19K guaranteed event. HOWEVER, the tourney lobby was set up that way, it stated that it was, it PAID OUT as if it was, so bottom line....it WAS.

Then to simply TAKE the money BACK from the players/winners 1-2 days later because it wasn't what it said it was it just pure bad business and flat out robbery.

Gawd, it pisses me off just thinking about it again.

Um, so yeah, I'll post updates.

Current PR status is that

- PokerRoom claims that it wasn't claimed to be a 19000 Guaranteed in some of its media. PR has not commented on whether it was on other pages, like the tourney lobby page

- PokerRoom claims that there was a goof which allowed payout at the 19,000 rate.

- PokerRoom claims that the materials (TV for first, PR logo'd homegame kit for 2nd - 10th) were the only intended payouts for 1-10, although 11th place got $153, more than the stated value of the materials of the 3rd place prize. Also the materials were mentioned as "extra prizes" in all media.

- PokerRoom has as part of an apology given free $10+1 tickets to all entrants, even though this was a 20+2 event.

- PokerRoom has given $2000 with their apologies to the winner (his original prize was $3800 plus flat screen). Apology (posted) implied but didn't state that money was in addition to keeping the TV. Then another ;ater email to winner stated that money was in lieu of TV (which was valued at $2000). Then another later email implied that money was in addition to TV.
-PokerRoom has given $100 to places 2-10 with an apology, although prize money originally was 23xx for 2nd down to 2xx for 10th.

-The tourney happened on Dec 16. PokerRoom removed the money from the final table winner accounts on Dec 18. All the above PokerRoom positions/statements/action came within 72 hours of the complaint (I believe). There has been no PokerRoom comment in the last few days.

================
Is that correct and the current PokerRoom status?

This is ITH's comment on stability at PokerRoom.

Stability
Pokerroom is a large internet poker site with longevity in the marketplace. Cashout speeds are comparable with industry standards, and generally accelerate with player tenure. Licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, your money and play are secure at Pokerroom.

Should this be changed? If not now, when?

Good summary Darvon.

I'd also add that there is actually a screenshot of the payouts of the tournament lobby that include the $19,000+"prizes".

So maybe they didn't "advertise" the tourney as $19k in the media but they sure did on the tournament lobby page which should mean more than anything!

Yep.

When I use the term media, I mean all public printings of the tourney description. PokerRoom specifically talks about "advertising". This avoids making a statement about the sightings in the Tournament Lobby of the "Guarantee". It seems not to be in contention that some of the PokerRoom media does not have a "Guarantee" and some does, such as the Tourney Lobby and the Payout screen.

Pockerroom

Postby horseracing » Dec 30 2006

There is no way it is worth it for pokerroom to lose a few players vs the 10k

we are talking about. Either they dont have the money or they are completely

mislead by poor management. I cannot see how they can keep up this

farce. I think it equally effective to post this situation wherever you can.

William Hill shows how this sort of mistake should be handled.

According to an e-mail we received from the PokerRoom founder, they have realized that they made an error in handling this and they have paid out all the original guaranteed prizes as (mistakenly) advertised.

To sum it up:

*Yes, PokerRoom.com messed up a tournament and handled the result of it
poorly. (Improvements are to be made in that area.)

*No, we didn't do it on purpose or to cheat anyone.

*All prizes have been paid out in full, including the accidentally added
cash.
