Another victim of FPS, Fancy Play Syndrome-- need the correct opp to make moves/try to outplay them-- especially at lower levels where they almost all play at the zeroth or 1st level of thinking you usually do end up spewing chips-- even against the correct opp you have to pick your spots--not try to do it too often. -- Bugsbunny

On June 23, 2006, at 4:09 p.m., captain nemo, posted in the site rating thread, the following:

Pacific for a newby is good with some choice of starting hands. AA KK QQ JJ TT AK AQ and pocket pairs(dropped after not hitting trips on flop).
I have been playing the 6 max .05/.10 tables and have been 2 tabling also.
They play any A, or K....there are players that amazingly call down with lousy hands. will raise and re raise with losing hands(try to bluff for 10 cents won't work)
I reccommend Pacific for newbies(like me) play smart top half of deck(K8, A8 and up and the better connectors. They will raise and reraise you at this level.
I played Stars 5/10 cent limit...Pacific has 70 percent flops and is easier for bankroll building.

I'm simply moving it into this Discussion thread.

This place is NUTS! I've been playing a bit of 1/2 limit.

I suspect it's a remnant of the old old days online (well before I was playing) and something like low limit B&M. 6 or 7 to the flop - frequent. Expect two or three cold-callers on average when you raise AA from EP.

Never before (even in play money) have I seen someone check-raise the turn and then check-fold the (apparently blank) river. And some of the hands that get shown down... sheesh... I've learned to hold on to things like middle pair against certain bettors / raisers, in a way that I wouldn't do anywhere else. Top pair is usually a lock hand :D

I haven't played there long enough to experience it yet - but I bet this place is variance-tastic. It looks pretty damn profitable though.

Hey Hawk, is your screename on Pacific The Hawk as well? I think I played with you over the weekend.

I started Friday with $50 I moved over from Pokerstars and moved it up to $200 over the weekend. The people on there are unreal!!! I learned not to bluff on there either, at least not most of the tables I played.

I agree Pacific is the nuts. I havn't played at Pacific since 2004 and just decided to deposit again to try it out. It's unbelievable how bad the players here are. My top pair holds up a majority of the time. When I have the nuts, people start capping my raises. I love it. I just wish they would allow unlimited raises like Crypto and I'd be rich playing .5/1

I made $50 at .5/1 in one night single tabling. They're so bad, they don't even know what they're trying to suckout on.

They have the worst rake structure around, at all levels. Maximums for the higher levels is $6. The $1/$2 and lower limits are getting raked up to 17.6%. Unreal. Plus the extra $0.01 per $0.20 between rake levels really adds up.
