Music?

Postby blah730235 » Jan 31 2009

Anyone listen to music before/during/after poker? And how does it affect your game? I've found listening to some music and perusing the forums for 15ish mins really helps get me my head clear and into poker. Just wondering if anyone else found this to be true...?

I listen to music when I play. I've watched movies while I play. I've read forums while I play. I've done basically anything you can do while playing poker.

I probably play my best without anything else going but then I get bored, listening to music is probably the least distracting.

I lose alot of money/information by being so quickly distracted (browsing forums etc.). Definately a leak of mine.

If I'm multi tabling I need the silence. A big tourney I am definitely listening to some tunes. I'm still watching the action, but need something to keep me awake. As I move up I might turn it off...depends on the table.
Well, you know, people don't go out to New Jersey unless they have to.

I once was playing a sattelite for a tv-show. (I won and got to go to the live event, which was also a sattelite and I did not win). It took some time to get the affirmation from the organisation that I could come to the live event. Because I played well (the first five players of the online sattelite could go to the live event and I came in 1st) I made a screenshot which I sent to the organisation to prove I had won.

At the time of the online sattelite I was also watching Southpark online, which is clearly visible on the screenshot :P.

I already had an image in my head of the organisation laughing at me for not taking the sattelite serious because I was watching Southpark.

I sometimes play music when playing poker, but not any music. Something smooth and not to catchy (before you know it, you're singing your worries AND your chips away happily). I like to listen to Chet Baker or The Godfather soundtrack (...don't ask).

When I don't play poker, however, I listen to much heavier music.
The day I read about the dangers of poker, I immediately gave up reading.

Nice and relaxing music is what I listen to. Anything from the "Solitudes" series is excellent as it has music and nature sounds. Helps keep me focused but also relaxed.

I always play with music - thats the a way for me to relax.
When I get to nervous I make mistakes. But the problem is now I'm already used to it so when playing a real game - not online I really miss it. I start getting worse in the real plays ...

Nope, don't ever really listen to music while playing unless my wife has it on in the background. I usually just browse ITH and take notes on other players. I really get easily distracted.

I often listen to music while I'm playing. It doesn't really distract me and it can help alleviate the boredom.

Reggae music like that of Bob Marley will be of great help. I always listen to his music when i play online poker. It gives a comfortable moment of winning. :D
