i need help i cannot deal with this

Postby omega man » Sep 04 2008

i cannot deal mentally with handling blind posters they always win against me and call a raise with any 2 cards.
I flat call with more hands instead of raising and i fold cards i would otherwise play pre-flop.
Also posters are playing the hands more often hoping to win more often.
This is affecting me so bad i am thinking maybe ths game is not for me anymore.

Well, the advice that I recently got was to basically ignore posters and play as you normally would. If the poster checks, play as if he limped. The only case where this would be different is if you are on the button and only the poster has checked (nobody else in the hand). In this case, raise with anything. Don't know if this is a good strategy, but I'm going to give it a shot as I've recently had issues dealing with posters as well.

Aside from that, I lost 30BB in 100 hands last night. I reviewed my HH and made very few "errors". Just had an awful session and its bugging me. My Aces got cracked when 66 and J6 caught a 6-high straight on the river. Just disgusting. Had a lot of hands drawn out on. TPTK getting consistently drawn out on the river. Even if it improves to 2-pair, the other guy improves to a flush. I had just got my BR up to its highest point and then proceeded to tank with seemingly solid play.

The funny thing is, I've won the majority of my $$ with a couple MTT cashes (including a 1st), and I really have no experience playing them. I have not read any MTT books and often am not sure what to do. OTOH, I am always looking to improve my limit game, and I continue to get sucked out on over and over again.

Oops, sorry for the hi-jack, back to posters. Just feeling very frustrated...

This is essentially the correct strategy for them.

I flat call with more hands instead of raising and i fold cards i would otherwise play pre-flop.

Actually, you should raise more against posters.

Also posters are playing the hands more often hoping to win more often.

I'll leave the mental aspects for Pie or someone better qualified, but you mainly have to focus on playing right and the results will follow.

Yeah I definately would suggest raising posters liighter, especially in position. Of course they will hit against you, posters are going to be playing virtaully everyhand after they post, it's like having a loose preflop player at your table... limping/calling more is not the correct way to handle them.

You definately need to address your mental state if posters are driving you to quit the game... I have a hard time imagining something that is a very small part of the game driving someone to quit althogether.

Are we talking about limit or no-limit here? I assume limit?
