Stop - No Internet GamblingHas anyone seen this ad on Yahoo? There is a big banner at the top of my inbox that reads Stop - No Internet Gambling. It then goes on to say that companies and people who place bets with them are breaking the law. THe banner links to the following organization.

Doesn't Yahoo have fantasy sports games?
I don't play on Yahoo, so I'm gonna ask a few qestions... 1)Do they charge for their games (or at least some of their games)? 2)If yes, do they give out prizes to those who do the best? 3)Again,if yes, don't they want people to spend money with the chance of getting more money back? Isn't this one of the definitions of gambling? (Without getting into a discussion on that subject, of course.) Why should I worry about not having a 6-pack, when I'm carrying around a Pony Keg?
Their literature stresses they have no position on legalized gambling and their Statement Concerning Current Internet Gambling Legislation is more concerned about lack of funding for problem gambling
They go on to say
They played with the numbers, 8% looks high. 106/30,000 is 0.35%. Overall, their concern appears to be research funding and internet gambling is a hot topic they've latched onto. "Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities." -- Voltaire
All gambling is bad. Except for the gambling that generates taxes in my state. And the gambling that funds the schools we don't want to pay for. And when we call it "hedging" or "speculating". And when it's "fantasy" and you can't actually win money. Ad infinitum...
So basically, the only gambling that would be (almost universally ) accepted would be.....................
The LOTTERY????? I think I'd have a better chance of being struck by lightning than winning that stupid thing. Why should I worry about not having a 6-pack, when I'm carrying around a Pony Keg?
In my State, The Governator [which is starting to sound more and more ominous as he has taken a wrecking ball to California] Arnold Schwarzen-Kennedy is pushing for privatization of our State Lottery. From one big bureaucracy to another. Although, as we all know, Horse Betting, State Lotteries and Fantasy Sport betting is all protected by the UIGEA, so I expect a huge Lottery site to pop up on the Internet. I'm contemplating an Initiative for the November elections calling for a Politician Hunting Season, where we could buy permits. And no, I won't allow outsiders. Get your own politicians. Violation for poaching ours will carry a stiff penalty. We'll make you live here for 4 years. Harold Camping was wrong. The world ended on April 15th, 2011.
I think it is just rediculous that they want to ban online poker - of course it can make you addicted and lose money, but there are so many other things out there that bear the same risk - ban those first
Online gambling help the economy by its revenue, i am against legalizing any online gambling games. It depends to the player on how he/she controls the game.
Online gambling will help the economy more if it is regulated and tracked. Anyone not currently reporting income will be forced to do so. All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing - Edmund Burke
Still an opinionated b*&^%$
