Regulating Online Poker in the US Over 5 years: 32,000 new jobs 94 billion in expenditures 57 Billion in tax income duh...it's a no brainer. Matthew "It's not about the hand you put your opponent on, it's about how you think he will play that hand."
Those numbers feel pretty optimistic. I've read that Vegas generates around $1 billion a year in tax revenue, which would mean they see online poker as 10 times all of Vegas?
I still agree with the conclusion, but I find it hard to imagine the market is really that large. Some of the latest rumors have it that the big casinos are pushing for a protectionist law that would drive Tilt and Stars out to make room for US-based poker rooms. That would be interesting.
