Obviously, ITH is a book that we would all suggest, but if there is a "bibe" I think it has to be Theory of Poker.

What about Doyle Brunson's SUPERSYSTEM 1 and 2?

SUPERSYSTEM 1 - Old Testement
SUPERSYSTEM 2 - New Testement.
Before you believe in anything, always look for the beLIEve hidden within.

The Theory of Poker is the bible, but by no means the first you should read. ITH or Jones' Winning Low Limit Hold Em are good first books.
There's a sucker born every minute - most of them end up playing poker.

Are you looking for how to play NL cash, tournaments, other? Makes a big difference. If tournaments I would get Harrington's set, then Gus Hansen's terrific book, then WPT Vol 1 and 2, also terrific. Learn to play from Harrington's. Then learn to beat those that play ala Harrington with the others.

Poker taught me how to be self critical and how to use to that to improve...also taught me how to dust myself off and go again. The past is the past. Learn your lessons and move right on. --Paulif
