online poker ebooks - waste of money?

Postby Pokerram » Jun 27 2005

Hi, at the risk of getting a stream of derision in return, I just thought I would ask if anyone has tried any of the ebooks that show up in the google ads when you search for poker books.
I have come across the following:

onlinepokermadeeasy
onlinepokerincome
mannmadesoftware/onlinepoker/
pokerliving/pokerstrategyguide.html

{de-linkified by admin, you can figure out the URLs if you're interested in looking}

I am of course assuming they are either scams or just plain bad, particularly as I can't find any info about them on any other website. But I thought it might be worth asking, just to see if anybody had tried one and been pleasantly surprised - especially as so little of the standard poker literature (most of which I have read) is not oriented towards online play.

In terms of the stage I am at, I have been playing seriously online since the beginning of the year, using ITH as my bible and I'm around 2700 up in total, but over 50% of this is from one big tournament win and bonuses. I am currently playing 1-2 limit (looking to step up to 2-4 in the near future), and occasionally 25 and 50 buy-in no limit, plus tournaments when I can, which unfortunately isn't very often. So I am (so far) a winning player but I can't help thinking I could be doing a lot better if I knew how to better optimise my play for the Internet.

Cheers

I have not used any of these but........ If I were you I would consider utilizing the free book offers on this site. Harrington on Hold'em, Small Takes Hold'em, and Brunson's Super System are all MUST reads IMO.

Secrets of holdem

Postby magicrcook » Jul 02 2005

I purchased Secrets of Hold'em online for approximately $49. This E-book was a complete waste of money. It would better be considered an introductory pamphlet. I asked for and recieved a prompt refund.

The Poker Blueprint

Postby Perrygarl » Apr 02 2010

I have heard good things about The Poker Blueprint, from the same internet publishers as Let There Be Range. Costs only $37 and is supposeldly good for Small-stakes NLHE.

Beware of the bankroll builder book that says that it can teach you to win at the DoNs. Mostly borrowed material available for free.

This thread was started a long time ago so wanted to update. We now offer all of our books in PDF format in our store, http://pokerbooks.internettexasholdem.com/.

You can also purchase our Dimat books in Kindle format at Amazon or epub format at Barnes and Noble.

In terms of this thread and the original poster, he was spamming his ebooks from several years ago. Nowadays there are some very good ebooks available. The range of ebook prices are anywhere from $20 to $2,000. All of the Dimat ebooks range from $20-$30.

Re: online poker ebooks - waste of money?

Postby ninconvert » Feb 03 2011

Yeah these are almost always a waste of money, joining one of the training sites like Deuces Cracked or Bluefire Poker is way better bang for your buck, plus it's a lot easier for most people (well me anyway) to learn watching videos than reading dry text.
