I picked up Cardoza's WSOP No-Limit Tournament Hold'Em yesterday and D&B's Secrets of non-standard Sit'n'gos today.
I have only thumbed through Cardoza's book but it seems to do a good job of explaining the mechanics of hold'em to the novice.

Even though I have not finished (or really even started) the two books referenced in my first post, I picked up another poker book today. This, and Dan Harrington's 6-Max book, were the only two new books on the shelves.
I picked up 52 Things To Pick Up Your Poker Game by Adam Slutsky. I like Slutsky's writing in Bluff so I thought I would enjoy it. I should get to these new books as soon as I finish the Robert Ludlum book I picked up. All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing - Edmund Burke

Re: Just Picked These UpHey Doc,
how is this book? I noticed that it is only $2.95 on Amazon.
Re: Just Picked These Up
Honestly, I don't know as I have not gotten to it yet. But based on Slutsky's writing and the fact it is only $2.95 on Amazon, I say get it if you want it. It might be below your skill level, but if so you can always pass it on to someone. Seeing your post and after typing the above, I was prompted to pull the book off my shelf and look through it. It is very basic common poker sense, but I still say get it. All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing - Edmund Burke

Re: Just Picked These Upthanks Doc,
I respect and value your opinion so will pick it up based on your recommendation. Is this book geared for a specific game (NL, limit or general poker)?
