So, I have this financial goal w/ poker, and I appreciate any and all feedback regarding how I may give myself the best chance of getting there. I'll list below what I feel is the pertinent information:
My financial goal is to average $100 profit weekly. Is this too much to ask?
Given standard deviation and the ebb-and-flow of luck, I'm willing to commit max 12 weeks to realize this goal. In other words, if weeks 1 through 11 I profited $0, then week 12 I profited $1200, I'd be as happy as averaging $100 profit each of the 12 weeks. If I can't realize my financial goal in 12 weeks, then perhaps my time commitment to playing NL texas hold'em is no longer worthwhile.
For this pursuit, let's just say that I have $1,500 in bankroll to work toward this goal.
In no particular way do I categorize my own play; I think professionally in the sense that I'm constantly searching for ways to tweak my game and improve it. I never feel superior or inferior to my opponents. I just look for the best opportunities to maximize expectation.
In the past year, I've played in SnG's w/ buy-in's from $3 to $100.
I've played in MTTs from $1 to $20 ($100 live MTTs).
I play online and live; when live, in the past year, my main area of comfort has been $1/$2 NL.
Weekly, I play usually 4-8 hours, though I prefer playing 10-15 (about half and half, online and live).
Given the information above, is my goal realistic? If so, given my preferred time commitment and dedicated bankroll, what stakes would you play?
