Am I being too cautious with my bankroll? Not sure if you can be too cautious. A few months ago I won 9 dollars in a free roll tourney on Pokerstars. After I won the 9 dollars I played .5/.10 limi poker and took it up to around 30 dollars. At 30 dollars I started playing .10/.20 limit and got it up to 90 dollars. Ever since then i've been playing .02/.05 NL with a 10 dollar buy in. My bankroll is currently at 620 dollars. I've had a couple of downswings but I can destroy this level. I took a quick stab awhile back at the .10/.25 Nl game with a 25 dollar buy in and insantly lost 3 buy ins. 2 from bad beats and 1 from bad play. Been hesitant to move up since then. Any recommendations on when I should move up?
I think the recommended buyins for NL are a minimum of like 20 for full ring and 30 for 6-max.

So for 25nl that'd be $500 for Full ring and $750 for 6-max.

The more the better. Some people set hand goals, some set profit goals. Whatever works for you. You need to feel comfortable playing at that level or you will lose though.
You're doing fine. As the king of overly-cautious bankrolling, toro is correct. You have enough to play NL25 fullring, but you must be confident not only in your play, but also in your bankroll. Don't ever think you are over-rolling yourself.

I play NL25, $5 SnGs and upwards of $10 MTT buy-ins on a $3500 bankroll. My reasoning is clear in my head. I don't ever want to put more in. I can win consistently enough when I play NL25. I haven't convinced myself that I can in SnGs and MTTs. Until I do, I won't be moving up.

If you are still feeling like you are being overly cautious when you compare yourself to me, well....welcome my brother. Where have you been? Harold Camping was wrong. The world ended on April 15th, 2011.
Re : Am I being too cautious with my bankroll? When You want to play poker don't worry about your bankroll , my advice would be to play the play chip games before you start risking real money.
Re: Am I being too cautious with my bankroll?Poker management is one of the biggest keys to poker success.Money management is the key to better real and poker life. When playing poker, crap happens.Say you wait for awhile to get into a game. Now your in,you lose a few bets, a couple of players leave, the game change or breaks up.If you have a large bankroll, this does not efect you, small banroll it hurts.
