Great flop....too passive?

Postby osmosis21 » Sep 27 2007

I hit the a great flop, and even though I improved on the turn, its the one card I didnt want to see. I figured that with position I could always raise with a safe card and although Im confident he has an ace I dont want to blow him out of the water if he doesnt....

Not intended to be a rant, as I know Im losing this pot after the turn, but curious if I should raise for value on the turn....with

I'm only a beginner, but I think you should raise a decent amount on the turn. If he doesn't have an A, you aren't going to get much out of him anyway. If he does have an A, there is only a very small chance he has quads or AQ since you have QQ. A4 is more of a possibility.

He will be reluctant to fold trips though and likely call a medium-sized value bet on the turn with a single A, leaving him 10 outs to a winning hand. Since you are in position and raised the turn, you may even save yourself calling a river value bet if he makes a low boat on the river but if afraid you have a higher boat.

It's limit, Maalox. Played fine, if you know he's a maniac you can reraise turn for value. You led all the way to the river. You actually want to stay at this table as long as Blue is here.
