PLO tournament

Postby crunchtime » Jun 14 2011

ok guys,

i have two hands id like to talk about (both occured in the same low-buyin 8$ plo tournament):

hand number 1: after posting the SB i have 5630 in my stack (blinds 75/150)...my hand :Ad :2d :Qs :2c

hijack calls, button calls, i call and the BB checks (all have me covered). flop: :3c :5c :4d

i check cause of the clubs and second nut straight (pot control) and it gets checked around. turn: :10d

i bet pot having an additional nut flush draw going along with my wheel and i dont believe that theres 62 out there. i got called from the 12k stacked button. pot size now: 1800

river: :9c so the flush draw hits and my opponent bets 450 after my check

although i do know with 95% probability that he made the flush, i paid him off (his hand was : :Ac :8c :5c :Ah )

was the call correct or did i have to make the crying fold?

hand number 2: (still a while to play until itm)

i have :Ah :Ac :5s :5d on the BU and it gets folded to me (my stack 4850 with blinds of 125/250).

would u raise here to pot size when the blinds are loose and very well stacked or just call with two pairs in the hand (like its suggested by jeff in his books; i ofc know thats no cash game and not very deeply played)?

Hand #1: a few questions:
1) Could he betting a worse hand than yours here? (I can't think of one, since the 6-2 and 6-7 straight both beat you, and it seems like villain would have bet these earlier, esp the 6-7).
2) Could he be betting any busted draws/bluffing here? (busted diamond draw, but you have blockers there; also, this is a rather small bet for a bluff).
3) Could he be on a random bluff 450/1800 = 25% of the time? That sounds high to me because of the bet sizing, I would guess more like 10%.

I'd say fold but, of course, I know the results so it's easy to say!

Hand #2: seems like a clear raise to me.
1) Are there antes yet? If so, this is even more of an argument for a raise.
2) Everyone expects a raise if folded to the button--your hand is way ahead of random hand on the button
3) It's a tournament, you need chips, so just pot it and look to play it hard if you get heads-up.
