TT facing a 3 bet from short(ish) stack

Postby leofric » Feb 02 2012

Party Poker $25 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players - View hand 1621943
DeucesCracked Poker Videos Hand History Converter

UTG: $26.26
MP: $18.20
CO: $17.27
BTN: $3.92
SB: $16.54
Hero (BB): $44.14

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is BB with T :spade: T :club:
3 folds, BTN raises to $3.92 all in, SB raises to $8, Hero??

Don't know if this is a silly question or not

Button is loose and liable to shove with a wide range - I was certainly going to call him until the raise from the SB.

SB has been fairly tight but bought in with only $10 so maybe is still playing like a short stack. Not many hands (<100) to go on but he hasnt 3 bet so far.

With half his stack in there I have no FE but there is another thought I had at the time.

Does he raise with something like AK/AQ/AJ because he wants/needs to isolate but would call with AA/KK since he'd want action from the guy behind?

Thoughts?

I don't feat Button at all.

SB raising is worrisome a bit, but 10 10 is very strong and considering SB's stack size, BTN's image and position, and my stack size and image, I think this adds up for a pretty safe call in the long run.

Also, the impact that Button's dead money has on the Pot Odds more than makes up for whatever closeness in edge we're dealing with regarding the SB's hand range.

So yeah...I think shoving here is the right play, but it's not an insta-shove in my book.
I'm better, dude.

In the hand I ended up folding (mainly because if I cant figure out where I am I tend to prefer that option!) but I agree in hindsight a shove looks better.

My concern at the time was I had no FE but I'm sure there are hands in his range he'd hate calling with so its not entirely zero.

For the record he had AKo and the Button had K8o - so another plus here is card removal!

Well thats just spew imo ...

What you hoping SB has to merit shoving 88 ? ...at best your hoping for a flip.
Green = happy and playing , Yellow = disgruntled and slighty miffed but still playing, Orange = Narked big style, fed up and contemplating future, Red = dont talk to me, screw everything and this game can get lost, im Retired !. God knows what Black means

Yea 88+ may be a bit spewy, I'd struggle to fold 99 though. SB can obviously have a wider range here despite his nitty image.
