I just finished reading 'How to Win Poker Tournaments One Hand at a Time', and I believe it is one of the most helpful and informative books on the subject I've ever read.
I consider myself a tournament specialist, though I've never played higher than micro and small stakes. Cash games just don't interest me nearly as much as the additional strategy considerations that tournament play entails. Every time I play cash (usually live), I tend to do well, but become easily bored with it. Tournaments always fulfill my... 'needs'. I am an action junkie.
I have been a poker dealer in Vegas for the last three years, after having learned in Salt Lake City dealing bar games. At the Salt Lake Poker Tour, which are all essentially freerolls, and particularly drunken and donktastic, the dealers played while they dealt. I played a tournament a day, 5 days a week, and on most days, one or two sit and gos for over a year. Most of my experience is with tournaments, so, I consider them to be my strongest game.
A little over a year ago, I loaded $200 on Full Tilt, and have been trying to practice sound bankroll management principles. I've had my bankroll up to over $1000, only to have it knocked back down by taking shots on big games, playing against stiffer competition, or both.
Within the last four months, I have dedicated myself to learning and study of the game with the intent of greatly improving my game. That's why I'm here. Thanks.
