Hey guys, 21 year old Irish amateur player, really looking to learn as much as possible in the coming months with regard bringing my game to the 'next level.'
Have played a lot of recreational poker, but am now moving toward playing more tournaments and cash in casinos. Biggest win is currently $2,000 online and it's so long ago now it needs to be beaten, but hopefully in a live cash game or tourney.
Reading matthew hilgers odds and probabilities book at the moment, and really feel odds etc. will add something to my game once I gain a better understanding. I've had a few decent wins before, but none ever with knowing what a guy has and being able to bluff etc. When I've won I've had good cards AND luck and I want to not rely on that.
Going to come straight in with a hand example from a cash game recently. Had AK off and only limped in on the button with the blinds and 1 caller for a total of 4. the flop comes King 9 5 rainbow and A drunk guy on my left in the SB bets 25 into an 8 euro pot. I'm sure I have him beat and raise all in as I cover him by about 40 more only to find he has AA. Turn and river bring no help.
Could I have gotten away from this hand? Should I have realised that his overbet was utter strength? I'm not so sure what to think of this hand and would value any and all opinions.
Looking forward to Reading and writing many hand examples in the future!!
