Everyone was an ITH newbie once...

Postby taz115 » Mar 15 2007

When I first found ITH I was pretty hesitant to start posting. Everyone seemed to know what they were talking about and I was completely new to the game. It took me a couple of months to gain the courage to finally post.

I want to encourage everyone to get involved in this great community. It couldn’t exist if we didn’t have an active membership. So, I have decided to compile a listing of some early posts made by some of our active members at ITH for you to chuckle at and hopefully realize that we were all newbies at some point. Enjoy and then make your first post if you haven’t already!

---

Our 10 Most Frequent Posters (as of today)

nsidestrate – nside joins to provide updates on Matthew’s WSOP tournament, and is questioned about his reliability – he now has >16k posts!

cybrarian – cyb introduces himself (as one of the top 10 players in world) ;)

Bullajami – Bull bungles his pots odds – and now he is the ITH Bonus Guru!

jeffnc – jeffnc swings and misses in his first hand analysis, drawing to the nuts

Bugsbunny – Bugs gives his opinions to resident expert Pilchard in a hand analysis

Piemaster – Pie contemplates his start in poker: SNGs – now he is the author of a poker book

taz115 – I timidly take the plunge in the New Member Forum – and now I manage it!

Matthew Hilger (mchilger) – our fearless leader’s first post on ITH back in Jul 2003. Did he realize ITH would get this big?

Wynton – Wynton catches the ‘Too Many Poker Sites’ disease

Cript – Cript contemplates folding AA preflop. Anyone surprised his first post is in the Vent Rant and Rave forum? :lol

---

If you have any funny stories or posts from when you were an ITH newbie feel free to post them below. I just arbitrarily decided to pick on the 10 most frequent posters because it was the easiest criteria to go by.

Here is a good example of a newbie post from me:

Should I have folded AA preflop?

Some comedy gold in this thread. Ironic that I gave you the exact same advice that you are now giving everybody else ;)

So Cyb ... what have you done with all your winnings?

Speaking as a newbie poster long time lurker, great thread Tazz! In general I think the majority of newbs usually feel they only have questions to add to the posts. The reads in this post should help bring out some of these long time readers and make them feel more confident about expressing opinions and discussing ideas, not just asking questions that may make them feel uncomfortable.

As I have read many times at this forum, "there are no concrete yes/no answers to most things poker, only situationally based decisisons"
Back away from the chip stack, this here's a HOLDEM HOLDUP !!
