I'd be barrelling the turn as a bluff so why not do it when we have a hand?

I understand what you're saying here, but I'd rather barrel with a stronger hand, say, AA or AK, than TT once the over hits the turn (since I'm mostly checking those hands for pot control/value as well in this spot). Barreling with air or a stronger one pair+ hand helps to polarize my range a bit more too.

Likewise if villain checks to us on the river and any of the above cards fall we cant really value bet any of them, partly because we could be beat and partly because villain will now fold his flopped pairs that he would have possibly called a turn bet with.

This is a very good argument :D I do think we can extract value even on some of these cards (low spades), but you're right - if he's calling us with a 9 anyway, then it's best to bet the turn. Is it worth putting some numbers in here to try and get a quantative feel for the situation?

Just a thought - I'm sure his hand is more a draw likely than a monster which would be one reason for betting here.

He checked the flop and turn - if this was a trap then why would he do this with a double flush draw out there now? If you were drawing he's just given you a free card so I'm not convinced he has a set or straight here.

At first sight I would have checked behind but thinking about this there is some logic in value betting here.

flush draw , set or made str8

Postby jbhstochors » Jul 05 2010

I have to be aggressive and bet, I either put him on set ,str8 very unlikely or the flush draw.As long as its not the k high flush draw your good... Make him pay as much as you think he will. You must protect your hand,I can't see him floating the flop with nothing.and with you holding TT the str8 draws look slim.2/3 to pot like bet is whats crying out here.If hes got the set or made str8 so be it,but i would commit to this hand.MAKE HIM PAY :?
