Thin river value

Postby mconstab » Jul 09 2010

Rush tourney but I have stats on villain who is 23/13/AFq45.

I think this is quite a unique spot and maybe I could have sized my flop and turn bets slightly larger to give him better odds on a call on the river( although I think it's not too bad).

I mean we have to shove the river even though we're hoping villain will hero us with a possible weaker A (but there can't be too many in his range here even on the BTN) or some random JJ, T. I just don't see too many hands he can bluff with if we check river (KQss, KJss). I'm never check folding the river in a $12 Rush tourney but against better players I'd feel uneasy shoving the river but check folding is also pretty sick, odd spot.

I like it the whole way. I'm guessing he had TT here.

He had ATo. I'm not really doubting the way I played it but just thought it was an interesting spot, you're just praying he has AJ here.

In these things, I would expect to see any A at all.

You get to a natural all in by the river so I don't see any fault with your bet sizing. I agree this is a hand and a board that you have to build the pot with. Any draws will gladly take a free card on a paired board. Its a pretty bad board to bluff, especially how villian played it so I don't think you can have any expectation of them betting for you.
