Live: 2 x tricky BB specials

Postby Primitive » Sep 12 2011

From a small $100-ish tourney at a local illegal last week.

Same villains inn both hands: Villain 1 in MP is a tightish reg. Can make moves but seldom get too much out of line. Villain 2 in SB is totally clueless.

Hand 1: 200-400 + 25 ante.
MP limps - SB calls - I have :9h :5d and decide not to squeze :wink.
Flop (pot 1800): :6h :7c :3h . Checked around
Turn (pot1800): :4h. SB Checks - I check (don’t remember exactly why but I probably picked up MP going for his chips) – MP overbets pot 2400 – SB snap- calls – Prim ……..?
I'm at 20K; MP has 15K left, SB 10K

Two orbits later
Hand 2: 200-400 + 25
MP Raises 1100 – SB Calls – I have :6h :5h and call.
Flop (pot 3500) :Kc :6d :5d - Check – Check – MP bet 2800 – SB push 9K – Prim…….?
MP has 10K left, I’m at 20K

Hand 1 you're just hoping for a chop if you call. With the 3 flush out there and a possible better straight I'd let it go. MP would probably not overbet the pot vs 2 people without at least a 5, and who knows what the SB might have.

Hand 2 is an easy shove. MP probably has a King or is just c betting. SB probably has a King or a draw. You're very unlucky if you don't have the best hand here. Just hope it holds.

Not much action here ATM but I’m going to bump this anyway.

For hand 1:
I folded the straight but the more I think about it.......
The MP limp is either a PP or suited connectors and he probably would have CB’ed a flush draw if he hit it. So, I shouldn’t be too afraid of a flush. Neither should I be too afraid of a better straight; 85 is unlikely for MP (and he again would have CB’ed his openended) and SB would bet the turn in front if he had it.
I’m usually up against a set or I’m splitting with a 12 out (harts + 8’s) freeroll for an outright win against MP.
So, the big question is what the moron in SB holds. Does he always counterfeit my 9 high flushdraw or can I put some value on my :9h ?

Hand 1 is tricky. I think it all depends on your read of the players. I think i might fold though because the best you can hope for really is a chop.

Hand 2 i much prefer to lead out with bottom two. Lot's of draws out there i.e. flush/straight draws. So i'm definetly going to lead out and protect my 2-pair. As played, easy shove. I'm never ever folding bottom 2 here.

Hand 1:
As said, I folded.
River :5h , check, check
Tight MP shows :5s :6s for a turned straight with no flush draw.
Idiot SB shows :7d :9s for TP and a gutter at the turn.

So, basically I would have been freerolling for the win here.

Given the fact that neither is likely to have the flush at the turn nor is likely to bluff into a 4-flush or a paired board on the river, I'm not to happy with my fold here.

MP will CBet this close to 100% (given his tightness AA or AK is a huge part of his range and he got to rep it). I'm obviously going for the CR.

The Idiot's push put me on edge. Preflop he could have caled with almost anything. He was the kind of player who would call away his stack with any top pair, call both flop and turn with draws without correct potodds, but I hadn't seen him raise without beeing strong. I'm pretty sure he would just call with KQ or a flushdraw and since K6s and K5s was in his PF range I decided to fold.

MP snapfolds and SB proudly shows :7D :8D for OESF draw.

Even though I missed a flip with some dead money in in the pot I'm pretty happy with my on the spot analysis there.

BTW:
Knocked out both guys within the hour, became chipleader, started playing like crap and bubbled
