Unless you have a good read on both of them I'd fold - KQ OOP isnt the sort of hand I want to play

Easy fold IMO.

I've got a question about this scenario.

Let's say it's the same situation: there is a raise and a call, and I'm in one of the blinds with KQs oop. Are there stack size situations/stages in a tournament where it would be defensible to call with KQs oop? I struggle with a few hands like this--out of position, not deep or short, and getting a decent price. Villain(s) tendencies unknown.

IMO there are two problems with calling - one is your position and the other that you're giving up the initiative by only calling.

Position cuts down on your options postflop and playing passively cuts them down even further. You're pretty much playing to hit something like KK, QQ, KQ or a flush draw - without a hand its more or less check/fold. Even with a hand you've no idea whether you will get paid off.

If this was early and effective stacks are 100BB or more, you could make a call here from the BB to complete the betting. The key is to not go crazy without flopping a very big hand. Top pair, for instance, wouldn't quality as a big hand here and would need to be played cautiously.
