Best way to get better at 3-handed play?I feel like I'm really weak on deepish stacked (avg stack = 30bb+) 3-handed play right now. What's the best way to practice that?
You're probably not weak at all, just short term variance. Sounds like you're just fine at 4-handed.
Seriously it's tough deep stacked, but I'm quite sure you're better than most. I'd read all of fen's posts for starters on his heads up cash. Chris Poker taught me how to be self critical and how to use to that to improve...also taught me how to dust myself off and go again. The past is the past. I'm not really too worried about 4-handed play or HU play. I think I have a really good handle on those. But I have extremely limited experience in relatively deep-stacked 3-handed play. I find that I don't know how to maintain image or set up profitable situations.
I've been seeing as 20-30 hands into 3-handed play these guys catch on to what I'm doing . . . but I can't really stop what I'm doing either. So I think I need to practice.
4-handed play isn't that much different from 3 imo. If the CO open-folds 70% of the time and your in any of the other positions your effectively playing 3 handed 70% of the time. "All that matters is if you are better today than you were yesterday. Only then will you be awesome."

I guess when playing in a 3 handed - checkraising almost 30% of flops, i feel like with strong draws and two pair type hands he is going to be making his move OTF.
That 30% of the time that CO is entering the pot makes a huge difference for your image. Especially since you can play slightly tighter.
