88 OTB with 21 BB vs open limp

Postby Outlier » Jul 19 2010

I played around with this hand in SNG Wiz and got some insight, but I'm curious what others think:

Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, 5.5 Tournament, 170/340 Blinds 25 Ante (9 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

saw flop

Hero (Button) (t7342)
SB (t17371)
BB (t27070)
UTG (t25232)
UTG+1 (t11834)
MP1 (t19908 )
MP2 (t45624)
MP3 (t9539)
CO (t20793)

Hero's M: 9.99

Preflop: Hero is Button with :8c, :8d
3 folds, MP2 calls t340, 2 folds, hero?

I'm not considering flatting, just wondering if it's good enough to shove. Villain was playing 16/5 through 20 hands.

If not good enough to shove what would you want here as a minimum to shove?

I'd consider limping along here providing the blinds aren't going up too quickly. I don't think I'd shove here with less than JJ+, AK

Shoving is too much of an overbet for me. I think i just raise to something like 1,200.

I would raise 2.3x and play the hand in position. Being the initial raiser i would Cbet the flop 90% of the time.

What Tim said.

You have just enough chips for a raise and a credible CB and still get away if you are obviously beaten. Pushing here is just spewing IMHO
