You should use Cybrarian's Hand Converter when you post a HH

Postby nsidestrate » Jan 08 2006

When you post a hand history for comment by others, you will find that you will get more comments and it is easier to read if you use a converter. In my opinion, Cybrarian's Hand Converter is the best one out there and it was written by one of our own, which adds at least 20% to its value.

This thread would also be an excellent place for you to tell Cybrarian that you think he is a genius (or at least that he worked very hard on ths thing and that you appreciate it).

Here is a demonstration of why you should use the converter. Old, unpleasant hand history format:

Texas Hold'em $25-$50 (real money), hand #1,661,647,949

Don't you just hate it when that button only calls you the whole way with top pair (that turns top trips)?

I should point out that there occasionally may be problems in the conversion. Sometimes this will be my stupid fault, but I'm always quick to fix anything as soon as i know there's a problem.

I've started using it, Cyb. Just wanted to say it is very easy to use and no problems so far.

You may also be interested to know that it works perfectly on my mac using Safari, where Bison's one does not work with the mac. Interesting.

thanks for the effort

nside - thanks for the plug :)

Everyone else, thanks for the kind words :D

The converter's come along quite nicely since I started at the end of November, and although I've spent more time on it than I'd originally envisaged (there's a surprising number of different things that can happen in a hand, it turns out), it's pretty much doing everything I want it to do now, including lots of fancy stuff to dislay side-pots when players go all-in, which I'm not sure other converters do, so that's a plus for me. As well as doing my best to support as many sites as possible, hopefully including ones that aren't supported elsewhere. For details of the current state of the converter, see: Notes and Updates

If anyone has any trouble with it, please pm me and I'll iron out the problem.

I'm just glad I knew cybrarian when he was merely an anonymous, poker-playing technogeek.

Alas, that was before he became consumed with the fame, fortune and fast-life associated with the create-your-own-converter crowd.

Don't forget the little people, cyb!

The spacing on the page seems to be screwed up today. You have to scroll down quite a ways before you see the Hand Converter. i originally thought it was removed.

Works great by the way, thanks cyb!

Stylesheet problems - I hadn't catered for what would happen when people left long URLs in comments. As a result it overflowed somewhat.

I tell you - trying to make anything look half decent in a web page is awkwardness itself.

Hate to tell you but this hand converter is a piece of shit. It would not convert my hand from Pokerstars.

Slightly more constructive criticism is probably a better idea here.

The converter has worked quite nicely for me (and others obviously) in the past. If you're having an issue, I'm sure we could help here, or Cyb would be happy to look into it to get any glitches in the converter worked out.

I'm not doing anything in particular right now - pm me the hand history, and I'll see what can be done to fix the problem.
