Postby Cyclist » Oct 10 2010

Not sure if I played this well, got lucky or both. The guy to my left was a maniac.

Pre Flop: (1.4 SB) Hero is UTG+1 with K :club: K :diamond:
1 fold, Hero calls, MP calls, 1 fold, BTN raises, 1 fold, BB 3-bets, Hero caps!, MP calls, BTN calls, BB calls

Flop: (16.4 SB) 3 :club: 2  9 :spade: (4 players)
BB bets, Hero raises, MP 3-bets, BTN calls, BB caps!, Hero calls, MP calls, BTN calls

Turn: (16.2 BB) A :spade: (4 players)
BB checks, Hero checks, MP bets, BTN calls, BB folds, Hero calls

River: (19.2 BB) K  (3 players)
Hero bets, MP raises, BTN calls, Hero 3-bets, MP caps!, BTN calls, Hero calls

Final Pot: 31.2 BB
Hero shows K :club: K :diamond: (three of a kind, Kings)
MP shows T :club: 7 :diamond: (high card Ace)
BTN shows J :spade: A :club: (a pair of Aces)
Hero wins 30.4 BB
(Rake: $0.40)

MP's river cap is one of the more optimistic bets I've seen :)

I wouldn't limp with KK, even with a maniac to my left. If he's really a maniac, then everyone at the table can see that. If you raise they'll probably put you on a good hand, so even if the maniac 3-bets they'll still play the hands they want to play because of the big pot brewing and the opportunity to win money from the maniac. On the other hand, there's nothing wrong with getting weak aces to fold preflop, just in case. If ever there was a time to limp with KK in a limit game, this might be it (I'd be likely to do it in a NL game), but I question if there is ever a time to do it.

Otherwise you played it fine. You would call on the river if no K hit.

It's hard to imagine the thought process of someone bluff-capping the river here.
