chrisjp on to Day2 of Bellagio Seniors

Postby chrisjp » May 09 2011

Here we go again. This time it's a $1080 entry Seniors WPT event at the Bellagio. Kind of a strange set up. 7 Levels Day 1. But the levels are only 50 minutes long. Anyway 73 runners. They pay nine spots and first is $27K+.

At the end of Day 1 I have 54BBs, an M=25. There are 22 players remaining and average stack is 33BBs. I am chip leader at my table, but 5 of the 6 opponents have more than an average stack. I also have Paul Magriel two to my left. It's fun having him there even though I wish he were a bit further around the table. He's such an interesting goofy guy. Real nice guy. BTW for those that don't already know it, Magriel is the M in "M".

I am probably in Second or Third Place right now, but a long way to the money. Hopefully things will get very interesting with about 12 players remaining, providing one of them is me.

Nside gets his wish again. True there were only 7 levels, but more than a few intriguing hands. Highlight hand was an ep limper with AA that got cracked by my 54s on 763Ax board. It all went in on the turn, and boy was he pissed. 8)

We resume Monday at 1pm. Trip report to follow after the tournament is over....

He really was pretty mum on the quack quack, but of course he raises to 2200 at 400/800. Reraises to 6600. When we redrew at 27 players that's when Magriel came to my table. He's pretty straightforward with fits of craziness sprinkled in. Not a bad strategy really. But he kept giving tips to the guy on his left about the following hand. I raised UTG+1, and the annoying player on my left, who overbets constantly when he's in, 3bet big. Magriel went into the tank and eventually folded JJ. Well that's what he said. I totally believe him. Anyway Paul and another guy talked about that hand for a long time. ICM, pot odds, position. Everything Paul told him was true...he's that kind of guy.
