888.com/Pacific Poker

Postby philhux » Nov 22 2010

I went back to my roots last night and added the Sunday tournament on Pacific Poker/888.com to my schedule. Pacific was the first ever site I played on back in the day when I bagan to build my bankroll. I played this tournament a few weeks ago and it is a really nice structure, plus I got to sit in the seat next to cricket legend Shane Warne for several hours.

Fast forward to last night and I played the tournament again. Late on it was very deep and there was a lot of skilled play possible which I was able to take advantage of. From about three tables left I grabbed the chiplead and was able to crush it. I had over 100bbs most of thw way and I even flopped a royal flush on the final table. It was just one of those tournaments it seemed it would be hard for me not to win. The cards were falling just right...

$75+5 buy in, 559 runners
1st for $12,000 - really happy with my play and the score

Nice work Phil!

Met Warney myself just before this year's WSOP ME. He was the last one left stood outside in the smoking area having a crafty ciggie as I returned from the portaloos before start of play. (When I say met, I actually mean exchanged "hello"s and "good luck, mate"s, but I'm still counting it...)

Congrats on the win - and any stone cold bluffs you ran on Warney would be appreciated!

I started out at 888 as well - spun the free $5 up to over $200 playing mainly low level limit - those were the days!

"Met" Warne as well - as in he was sat in the foyer of the Hotel I was working at reading the paper with his feet up on the glass coffee table. Classy as always!
