Playing Poker for a Living (sort of) - Month 5

Postby ammbo » Jan 25 2005

I actually took some time today and played some poker. Yes... me! I spent a good 4 hours this evening playing 5/10 6-max on Party. I played limit! And I am happy to report that I am up well over $800. I was blown away by how fishy these people were. A few months ago I played one of these games when my roll could not support it. I played for three hours and went from $250 to $600. At the time I thought it was a fluke. I left the table and considered myself lucky.

It was not a fluke. I think people just do not understand the concept of playing short handed. They think that any ace is fine with less than 10 people. I cannot count how many times I was paid off by ace high... and a weak ace high at that! It was simply amazing.

Other than that nice little session today I have not had a lot of time to play. I decided to play Party to chase a $200 bonus and am halfway there.

I did lose about $600 on Stars yesterday. I played the 350K and lost early with top two pair to a set that turned quads. Always nice to get your money in while drawing dead. I then proceeded to go on mild tilt and blow another $400 at Stars' 5/10 6-max tables. It was one of those sessions where AA and KK are losing about 60% of the time. It happens but I should have quit after the first 15BB that I lost. I was a little steamed and paid people off way too often. I much prefer Party for the ring action.

All for now, keep playing only AA!!!
