Milestones nearly ignored...

Postby ammbo » Jan 04 2005

For those of you who frequent the vent rant and rave section, you may notice that I am almost never in there anymore. I guess I really have seen it all.

This is a rave of a different sort. I gave some thought to each of these milestones as they were passed but was too busy to put them into coherent thoughts.

On December 22nd I marked one year here with ITH. On December 26th I posted my 2000th post. How time flies! One year ago I posted a reply to LegalEagle after he introduced me to ITH at a Foxwoods tourney. At the time I was cleaning up the play money SnGs on PokerRoom. I did not start playing for real money online until January 7, 2004 when I deposited $400. I actually had a rocky start and made $1000 worth of deposits over the next 3 months. I turned a moderate profit in that time but kept padding my bankroll to move up limits. I was playing $50 limit SnGs by April and moved to NL that month. I was nearly pro by June and went fully pro in August.

I post this for a reason. I feel like ITH has brought me a long way in terms of poker progress and who I am (and who I work for  ). For those of you frustrated or befuddled by the fish and the game as a whole: Stick to it! There is a lot to learn but it does not come over night.

I started posting this in the vent rant and rave forum but then I realized something. I have not posted there since early October. I hope this means I have gained the level head necessary to truly be successful. Besides, this works better as a journal entry.

Again, thank you Matthew and thank you ITHers. As a group you have made me the player I am today. I am looking forward to another great new year of profit!

wow! congrats on all of those milestones...best wishes for another great year
Winning poker is not about win/lose. It is about maximising gain / minimising loss. The fact that you have made 30 big bets in the last 100 hands has actually meant you have lost if you should have made 34 in that time. - Pilchard

What a great post!

I also agree that this forum will help anyone improve the way they play poker.
