For Fun

Describe a hand that is currently ahead on the turn, but has no chance of winning the pot outright on the river.

Board 2222

Pot is 3-way, 44 is currently ahead of 33 and 33 but the pot is split 3-way on any river card.

gah... was looking for a HU example before I hit on the 3-way pot idea, and had also figured out that 3 pair had to be involved one way or the other... :)

Nice one Chris.

I don't know how many of these are out there, but there is at least one more where neither opponent holds a pocket pair.

lol, I had decided that there is no way this could be done without someone holding a pocket pair. I was trying to figure out one where when the kicker that paired the "ahead guy" on the river gave the other player a straight, but then I decided that the player who was ahead after the turn also being able to make a straight when another card fell.

Back to the think tank.

The mind works in mysterious ways. Counterfeiting, counterfeiting...driving me crazy like Mafia so I gave up...

soon thereafter of course--

Board: KK42

You 43
Me 42

Awesome Chris - I'm starting to wonder how many of these there are. I've been playing poker for over a decade and never realized you could have 44 outs.

I was trying to figure out one where when the kicker that paired the "ahead guy" on the river gave the other player a straight

There is actually one like this.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo! Back to the drawing board. Thought I was done. :D

The one I did above has many variations obviously--

Board: ppq2

You: q3
Me: q2

But you have to restrict p and q so that You never make a straight on the river to stay ahead. Like it can't be AA42 and You 43 and Me 42. Then if a 5 comes You make a straight.
