Choosing the right seat when playing Omaha Hi Lo

Postby Larry (Mr. Chips) Chiapel » Nov 09 2010

In the game of Omaha Hi Lo, the key ingredient is choosing the right seat, especially if there is a new game started--the kind of game where you get to pick the best seat right away. First off, I highly recommend that you choose a game with a seat on either side of the dealer. Some countries do not allow patrons to pick their own seats, but if you have that option, be sure to pick the right seat. Or if you have the option of moving to another seat, be sure to relocate to a seat on the right or left side of the dealer. In cities like Las Vegas, or any city throughout the world, Omaha Hi Lo is an aggressive game, with players that are very ruthless and experienced. Know this bit of information and act wisely!

Because you have chosen a seat on either side of the dealer, this will enable the dealer to slow the game down for yourself, especially since the action will be moving at a very fast pace. Often times others players will act before you have a chance to act--even five to six players ahead of you. In other words, they are checking, betting or folding way out of turn. Not only does sitting on either side of the dealer help slow the game down for you, but it helps you visualize and protect your hand (your four hole cards) from being seen by other opponents. In the game of Omaha Hi Lo, be sure to slow the action down so you can sort out your hand—choose the right seat!
