I hate to see a thread degenerate into name calling. The professor is a relentless self-promoter who posts in most of the on-line forums linking back to his site. This habit gets on my nerves. I've not really looked closely at his advice to have an opinion one way or the other about his play. I think he had a very well-publicized run at the Paradise Million a while back.

I've seen a couple of this guy's SNG videos and I really disagree with his style. He overvalues small pockets tremendously preflop, often just shoving in. I suppose he does this so he doesn't have to think about it post flop but everytime he gets called hes a coinflip at best and a 4:1 dog often. Also, he limps first in with weak off suit hands and calls raises with easily dominated hands when he has any money in the pot. I can't recall him ever folding his SB in an unraised pot either.

He's not a bad player I suppose, and I'm not one to criticize people for no reason. He's just not someone who should be regarded as any sort of authority on poker, which releasing videos online seems to imply. He seems to have obvious leaks.

We'll wait for a group 1 Sklansky hand.

Awheener raised.

I will call with AJo it's not a great hand but....

Ok I will play back at him and see if he has a pocket pair.

Ok I fold now because he reraised...

Oh! We got 55 let's see if I am in a coinflip situation so I will push.

Oh he has QQ... We'll need a lot of help...

What the heck is he thinking?

He pushes after a raise and re-raise with 55, then talks about how some of the players aren't good and will push in less than optimum situations.

I hope he's not a pro! Pros apparently drop $370 every weekend for two hookers! (According to one of his posts - http://www.internettexasholdem.com/phpbb2/why-do-pro-poker-players-still-live-with-their-moms-vt20279.html?highlight=) That might cut down profit margins a bit... #-o

Basically we are going to only play group one hands. We will do alot of folding and only play when we have one of the best hands.

So on this hand we have a wheener raising. It seems the next player has reraised. Well we have pocket 5's so we are going to push all in and try to take it down.

Oh wait, the reraiser has QQ

I think Im the wheener. Oh wait I just sucked out on the river.

I think I need to read all of Matthew's books before I play any more poker.

He CANT be serious. gotta be a joke right?

not only is he an awful player, he is an awful teacher. he dosnt explain his thoughts and his actions.he just acts which shows he dosnt know why he's making the plays himself.

lol.

Here's a review of one of his previous videos. I won't attribute it just now; I wonder if its writer will remember his thoughts...

The reason I did not want to comment on your poker play, was because it was simply atrocious. It was really only comparable to the video quality. On the upside, the sound quality is nice. Your dull and monotone voice comes through extremely clearly. Also, you seem to have confused the buyin. This was, at best, a $1. There is one thing I'm curious about. How many tries did it take before you got a hot enough run of cards and flops to avoid busting out in the first 10 minutes?
