'The Terrorisator' at the German Poker Championships: Berlin

Postby philhux » Nov 03 2011

I'm 2/15 going into day two of the German Poker Championships in Berlin, or as I prefer to call it - Deutscher Pokermeisterschaft.

Buy in 2,200 euros, we had 53 runners today, I'm hoping there will be over 100 for 1b tomorrow. Lots of satellite winners from around Northern Germany and a very mixed field. Yum Yum. It is a well run tournament but with no online sats and no international promotion (it isn't even listed on Hendon Mob) I can't help feeling it could be a lot bigger!

I'm 2/15 going into day two! 15k start stack, I got up to nearly 100k at one point, I absolutely destroyed my table. It was carnage. I was quite exotic as an 'auslander' and one guy even got annoyed that I was allowed to even enter the tournament and talked to the floor about it. I was about to cite EU regulations but it didn't come to that!

Great table with three young guys to my right who I tormented by three betting and flatting in position and to my left a load of middle aged fish which I valuetowned the hell out of. I flopped a couple of sets, did a number of nice value bets and prudent folds and didn't lose a hand at showdown for the first 5 levels.

Moved tables for last two levels and gave a little back and finished with 77.3k. The chip leader has a monster stack, about 130. He is a nice guy from Hamburg, quite solid. Sandra Naujoks played, she is still in. The field was pretty damn soft. I'm hoping for lots more satellite winners to play 1b tomorrow to get a nice fat prizepool

There's a report here:
http://www.pokerolymp.com/articles/show ... in-+Tag+1A

Where in the descriptions of the picture of me they call me - Der Terrorisator - which I translated using google to 'The Terrorisator '

Saturday we are probably playing through to a finish, or maybe it will go into Sunday too. Not sure.

But I'm in a really great spot and feel good about Day 2.

The trophy is this weird huge square glass bowl thing with DEUTSCHER MEISTER written on in big letters. I want to win it and eat cereal out of it sat in front of the Brandenberg gate whilst wearing a Union Jack hat.

They do report the one hand I was not happy with on that blog page where I was caught bluffing on the river. I want to write about it but not until after the tournament. Poker players with 3g phones and google scare me!

Can't decide if I look like a badass or if perhaps I should have chosen clothes that didn't clash so much!

Nice one Phil.

Where do they hold their tourneys in Berlin? In fact where do they play poker in general? I go to Berlin 2 or 3 times a year, and wouldnt mind a game now and then.

One online translator I looked at listed "bulldozer" as a possible translation. I kinda like that.

I couldn't find a picture of you eating cereal. A sandwich will have to do.

Day 1b just finished.

I'm sitting 4/42 with 64bbs.

Sandra Naukoks is in 7th and I don't think I know anyone else in the field.

Play starts at 2pm here in Berlin tomorrow and there should be updates on http://www.pokerolymp.de

I believe the final table might be being streamed live but I'm not completely sure.

I'm guessing 15 will get paid and first place will get about 60k but I'm not sure.

Structure is not the greatest but will see how it goes.

Looking forward to it a lot!

Thanks for the good wishes.

The reporting site says yesterday Jan Callado (who is an good aggro tricky young German player that I played against before) 6 bet shoved all in pre in the first level with KT - running into aces. Maybe I'm being results orientated but I'm not sure that's a good play! Another young player commented there were no antes, so that meant he had to play more aggro. For me no antes and 10 handed some of the day meant I played quite tight and tried to play post flop. At least we get antes today.
