My new dealer button and new poker chip design.

Postby robrobrob » Apr 09 2004

I got my new dealer button yesterday from dealerbuttons.com. I Made a special request to get one made at 3" in diameter rather than their traditional 2". They agreed to make me one as a sort of test case for the size, based on the fact that they had some scrap 3" bar steel around the shop.

I was hosting a home game at a friends house to teach some of my curious friends how to play, and when I got to the house, there was a sign on the door which read:

Robert R. Keller III Floating Poker Tournament. Please let yourself in. I thought the title for the game was funny, and had it engraved on the button, and hope to have it on my new chips as well.

I was panning on taking my own picture of the button, but instead will post the picture they e-mailed me of the button as I have had a computer crash this week, and it is perfectly bad timing for me, so I just don;t have time.

Also posted below is a picture of my new chip design, comments on the layout would be appreciated.

Rob ...

The dealer button looks sharp!!

The chips ... I laughed out loud. That's some 3/5 commitment and I applaud you. 7/2 has become the hand to play in my home game ever since it beat my AA a few weeks ago. Last Friday, I took a 14BB pot when my 7/2s landed the flush on the turn.

But I'm still not courageous enough to put it on my chips.

The dealer button looks awsome. Thats one big mother#&$@!% though. I might accidently sit my drink on it. :D

Like BDogs - I too like the subliminal message on the chips to play the 53o

In all seriouseness though - They both look really good!!

very nice.

I'm now convinced... I want a 3" button. Adam, if you are reading this, I'll be in touch, and I hope you have more materials to make this size!

I'm reading these... I don't just stop by to sell stuff

We can do the 3" buttons, but keep in mind that they will cost a few bucks extra. It takes over an hour just to cut the disk from the bar! When you work with surface area you see that the 3" has a lot more meat to it than the 2". I can offer you the option of cutting the disk to any thickness if you think .333" thick will be too heavy (I imagine it's ~1lb!)

Rob if you have a chance sometime, let me know just how much that thing ended up weighing!

Take care guys, I'm working on a few really cool brass dragons for some folks which I'll post here to show off later on. I also have a new fanned aces engraved graphic that's looking really sharp. If someone wants 3/5 or 2/7, etc on the engraved cards, I can do it!

Another thing I think would be great would be to have 'I'm BLUFFING' engraved on the back of the button.

Take care,
Adam

I'll bring the button to the post office next time I go. I don;t have a kitchen scale or anything, so I can't weigh it.

At our home game last night, I go toutplayed by a friend who has not been playing that long, but who I played with a lot during his first couple weeks of play, and he totally stole a pot off me with 35o and then tuned it over to show me, laughing. PLayed 'em like he flopped top set.

Seems to be the new challenge. Be the guy who wins with 53o, especially against me.

BerneardDogs has offered a refinemment to the chip graphic that I wanted to do myself but lack the skills to do. I'll of course [post pictures of the final design and then the chips when they come in.

When I watch "Pimp My Ride", they have a plasma cutter that rips through steel like butta.

Not trying to get all in your business ... just thought you might want to know.

I have a plasma cutter at my disposal as well. It's great if you want .1" tolerance. We deal in .0001" tolerances :-) Something that only a wire EDM machine can do (we have two, one was $160k and the other was $140k.)

I can make you one with the plasma cutter, but it won't be pretty!

er ... nevermind.

I defer to your judgement, Adam.

But ... if you're ever in the need for inter-personal communciation type stuff for the workplace. Or "Anger Management on the Job". Or "Creating an Inclusive, Harassment Free Workplace". I'm your guy.

I also barter my services.

Ok.. need an opinion on the corn-ness factor of the button I'm going to have made:

3" button, a silhouette (in black, not green) of a eagle with engraved on the bottom, legaleagle: bird of prey.

Also, if anyone knows of any pictures of eagles that would make a nice silhouette, please pm me or post a link to the picture!!

I like your idea, legaleagle. I have one suggestion, though. Why not put "legaleagle" across the top and "Bird of Prey" across the bottom, or vice versa? Just a thought.

maybe my corny one could be

"in the ocean of poker - selachian.com"

everyone has me wanting to order one of these buttons but I don't have any good home games going :(

same with a new set of poker chips, I keep wanting a nice custom set of poker chips from pokerchips.com instead of my composite chips I have now but I don't need them

I can certainly ship anywhere. I would estimate shipping to Sweden at $10US or so. Of course with the US dollar so week, it's a great time to by stuff from us Americans!
